Common Furnace Problems

There are always problems that come and go with HVAC units. Some are more common than others, and some may cause your furnace or HVAC unit to be replaced entirely. These repairs put you in the best position to get the warm air pumping throughout the home again and make sure everyone living inside it is warm and cozy, as they should be.

To Learn more about how you furnace works read out blog “How your furnace works“

Filter Trouble

Furnace filters are a vital piece to your home HVAC system that needs to be replaced every 3-4 months, more if you have furry friends. Frequent replacement of the furnace filter will help keep your furnace running efficiently, and keep clean air circulating through the house. When filters are not replaced regularly over heating of the furnace will occur.

Mechanical wear and proper maintenance

A furnace is a big investment and it is always good to speak with a professional that comes out and provides further maintenance on the unit. Without it, you might find that costly problems keep popping up and you have to continue to have them fixed instead of preventing them. As a furnace ages it is going to wear down, it works hard to keep your home warm, and as with all mechanical equipment, parts do wear out and need to be replaced to keep it running effectively. Consider the age of your furnace and if you think it is time for us to come and look it over.

Thermostat Issues

The thermostats in your home may have an issue that is causing your home not to heat properly. Having this assessed is a must because it can be one of the easier fixes that gets the thermostat back in working order. If you have an old thermostat you may want to consider upgrading to a new programable one, this can also help you lower the cost of heating your home.

Older furnace Pilot Control Issues

The pilot is the small flame that ignites the furnace when you turn your heat on.

Most modern furnace have a pilot that does not require you to light it. However occasions do arise when a pilot needs lighting in which case you should call High Tide Plumbing & Gas Nanaimo gas fitters and make an appointment to have your pilot relit as a larger problem may be present. New furnaces do not have standing pilots, they rely on what is called an intermittent pilot assembly which uses a hot surface ignitor or spark ignitor.

Air Flow In The System

When the system is backed up or clogged, then there may be a problem with the airflow. Venting can be blocked by debris or occasionally birds nests. Having this fixed can make the entire home feel more comfortable and secure. The pipes in the system or ducts throughout the home may have to be blown out and cleaned thoroughly for the best and cleanest air flow possible.

Of course, when there is an issue it is always best to call a professional Nanaimo gas fitter and have your furnace inspected, cleaned and serviced to ensure it is running safely and efficiently.
