Heating

Many homes on Vancouver Island are being heated by electricity, we would like to offer a better solution, natural gas.

Many people think natural gas is a “dirty” energy source, but as an industry it is just getting cleaner and cleaner. Did you know that natural gas is becoming a renewable resource? You can read more about renewable natural gas on our blog here.

Your house may currently be heated by electricity, either by way of electric baseboard heat or an electric heat pump, we would like to offer you the opportunity to upgrade your heat source to natural gas.

Maybe you don’t have gas at your home currently, it is not usually very expensive to bring it to the house and most areas have access. To find out more about getting natural gas to your home visit Fortis BC.

Furnaces

Forced Air natural gas furnaces are probably the most common way to heat your home. They offer many benefits including: efficiency, air exchange and price.

Over the past several years furnaces have become incredibly efficient.

If you have had electric baseboard heat in your home, you have most definitely noticed condensation on your windows, and maybe even mold growth. This is partly due to lack of air flow, with a forced air furnace air is actually pushed and pulled through your house and the air movement helps keep your windows dry.

Finally, price. Not only does Fortis BC offer rebates for many furnace models but you will find that it costs much less to heat your home with natural gas as compared to electricity.

Boiler/radiant heating

Boilers are arguably even more efficient than a furnace to heat your home. The three most common ways a boiler is used for space heating are by in-floor heat, radiant baseboard heat or by means of an air handler unit. An added benefit to a boiler system is that your domestic hot water heating can often be combine with the boiler system to have one integrated system doing everything.

Fireplaces

Fireplaces not only add heat to your living space they also add ambiance and create a warm and comfortable place to cozy up to on a cold winter evening. With the new models and technology currently available fireplaces are able to evenly heat large spaces with the help of internal fans.

If you are interested in a quote for any of the above heating options please reach out, we would be happy to discuss the options available to you.
